How Soby holds your days

The first TestFlight build

The first TestFlight build keeps check-ins on the device. It does not send them to a Soby server. What you enter is saved in the app's private storage on that phone (AsyncStorage).

Accounts are coming

Accounts are coming so your progress can follow you. Once they do, check-ins will be stored in the account. This page will be updated when that exists. Until then, there is nothing here about how a Soby account would handle your data, because that storage is not built yet.

What this build stores on the phone

If you use the current app, it can keep:

• The name you give your buddy, and the color you pick
• The substance or habit you are stepping away from, including your own words if you choose "something else"
• The reasons you select
• A daily amount you type in, used only to estimate money kept
• When the current stretch started, earlier sober days, and restarts
• Daily check-ins: a feeling, and a note if you write one
• Lessons you have opened or finished, and milestones you have already seen
• A reminder on/off preference and a time, if you set one

Money kept is calculated on the device from your number and your days. Soby does not look up your bank, your purchases, or your location.

Photos

Soby does not ask you to choose a photo and does not upload photos. The iOS photo library usage text exists only because a linked image library (expo-image) references the photo library. Soby does not use that to pick or send pictures.

Notifications

Push is off for now. The app can remember that you wanted a reminder, but it does not schedule one and it does not ask for notification permission while push is disabled.

What this site does

The feeling picker, day slider, breath circle, and timer preview on this website run in your browser. They are not sent anywhere and they are not your in-app check-ins. This marketing site does not include an analytics tracker of its own.

Backups and deleting the app

This TestFlight build does not sync check-ins to an account. If you back up your iPhone, Apple may include the app's local data in that device backup. That is the phone's backup. Deleting Soby removes its stored data from the device. When accounts arrive, check-ins will be stored in the account, and this note will change.
